My friend thinks that inbreeding is how they get “pocket” breeds. I was always under the impression that breeders just only bred small dogs with other small dogs, causing the general breed to shrink in size.

we found a dog not too long ago and we’re trying to figure out what type of breed he is.
We think he is a poodle,but we are not sure.
He is about 16 pounds.
He is pitch black with a furry face and his tale is about 3 inches long. He doesn’t have any other markings,so we’re thinking he has to be a mix between a pure bred poodle and something else. please help!
